Cervia Milano Marittima

The project of "Recommended hotels on account of their commitment to environmental protection" was formed though an agreement of Legambiente with the local Hotel Association and started in 2001.

This agreement with the group of hoteliers in Cervia e Milano Marittima has been made easier by the fact that this territory lies at the borders of the Regional Park of the Po Delta. Hotels joining the project are directly involved in the issues of sustainability and environmental improvement in a major business activity such as holiday industry.

The Place - Every year millions of tourists come here on holiday not only for the sea, but also for its beautiful pine wood - what's left from the vast pine forest which once covered the coast - and to get to its famous mud baths. The Strada Romea crosses the Central Square, surrounded by the ramparts, with the City Hall, its beautiful tower clock (1702) and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption (some inside paintings date back to the seventeenth century). The salt-works with the storehouses and the old salt-worker homes are another remainder of Cervia's history and tradition.

The Guidelines by Legambiente concern waste reduction; the recycling of materials through garbage sorting; water saving; installation of energy saving lamps; the serving of meals prepared with foodstuffs containing neither chemicals nor genetically modified organisms (when known); commitment to initiatives promoting public urban and extra urban traffic; energy and water utility services; tourist promotion; cultural and environmental resources management.
