Colli Piceni The Project - In 2005 three Municipalities of Cossignano, Offida and Ripatransone agreed with Legambiente on a scheme to improve the tourist offer quality of the Colli Piceni, an area which is endowed with a valuable nature and culture heritage. The Place - These three little towns are located along the Tesino river, a few kilometres from both seaside and the mountains. Neatly cultivated hills, dotted with medieval and renaissance towers and castles, make the landscape various and agreeable. The whole area - from Offida, with the remains of the ancient walls, the castle, the Church of Santa Maria, and the Palazzo comunale with porch and loggia, to the ancient commune of Ripatransone, which was built on the old Mons Cupra and was home to the bishop in the renaissance times, and to Cossignano with its gothic Tower of San Giorgio and its precious printed codes - bears witness to a long-established, hard working and prosperous civilisation. The same kind that still today yields high quality food and wines and handicrafts. The Start-up - In 2005 a group of member businesses (consisting of B&B and holiday farms) attended the training course that was held by the Scientific Desk of Legambiente Turismo. The sections of the Guidelines were explained: sustainable management of resources, gastronomy, local nature and culture heritage, environmental communication, etc.). References:
