Riviera del Conero

The Project - Legambiente Marche and the Hotel Association of Riviera del Conero have put together this group of recommended hotels in order to develop a new sustainable tourist offer policy. The objective is to link environmental protection to local business activities.

The place - The area is sheltered by the Conero Mount, where a naturalistic reserve is already in place. The mountain, which every year from May to June covers in yellow with blooming broom bushes, overlooks as an imposing scenery the beautiful beaches along the seashore: Mezzavalle, Portonovo, Sassi Neri and the Two Sisters. Hotels joining this project in Numana, Portonovo di Ancona e Sirolo agree to observe the Guidelines by Legambiente aiming at improving the environment, while involving tourists in putting eco-compatible behaviours into practice. The combination between eco-friendly actions and tourist business activities has been particularly successful in Sirolo, one of the best-liked destinations thanks to its beautiful sea, cliffs and almost unique landscape.

The Commitments - The most qualifying elements are waste reduction, garbage sorting, energy and water saving, the promotion of an healthy diet including foodstuffs from organic farming, the use of collective transportation, noise abatement, the promotion of cultural and environmental resources, the direct involvement of tourists who shall receive a card asking to indicate their degree of satisfaction with regard to commitment compliance.
