Giulianova The Project - In 2005 in the Municipality of Giulianova (Province of Teramo) a groups of accommodation businesses - including hotels and campsites - agreed with Legambiente on a new scheme to improve the quality of the local tourist offer. This initiative is of special relevance for this destination, as the large numbers of signatories in the agreement demonstrates: Municipality of Giulianova, Province of Teramo (Council for Tourism and Council for the Environment), Harbour Authority of Giulianova, Hotel and Tourist Operator Association and FAITA Federcamping Association in Giulianova. The Place - This little town in Abruzzi is located at the Adriatic Coast at the mount of the Tardino and Salinello Rivers. It consists of the old town - Giulianova Alta - with its renaissance terracotta dome built in octagonal shape and the 14th century Church of Santa Maria del Mare, and of a modern quarter - Giulianova Lido - that stretches along the shore and has been most fitting for tourist activities since the 70s with its well equipped Harbours for small boats. The Start-up - The protocol agreement was signed in June 2005 at the start of the Goletta Verde from Giulianova Harbour, when high season has already begun. Therefore, tourist businesses joining the Legambiente Turismo Ecolabel in 2005 shall only fill their check lists. The data which are collected through this tool will help the Scientific Desk of Legambiente Turismo to fix the local measure levels in 2006 References:
